Are the retreats suitable for everyone?Absolutely! Our retreats are designed to welcome anyone looking to deepen your faith, regardless of where you are in your spiritual journey. It's a time for reflection, connection, and growth in a supportive and serene environment. If you are just seeking out who God is, a new believer, or have been a strong Christian for years, you can benefit from this retreat. We have had amazing feedback from new believers to seasoned pastors about the experience. The experience is designed for middle school age and up. Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to accommodate and care for younger children at this time. Please note that there is one ADA tent available, however, the paths between the tents and common areas are outdoors and require navigating through some soft sand.
-
What is glamping?Glamping is “glamorous camping.” The accommodations provide many of the comforts of home to enhance your stay in the great outdoors. All tents offer full bathrooms, Heat & AC. Please remember, however, you are staying outside in a tent in the woods where other creatures live.
-
What is provided in the glamping tents? Each glamping tent has electricity, heat & AC, hot water, full bathrooms with shower, toilet and sink, a small refrigerator, and a Keurig coffee maker. Bed linens and bath towels are provided in the glamping tents. The following are supplied for your stay: paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, and trash bags.
-
Where are the retreats located?Strange Farms is our host location which is located in southwest Georgia in the quaint town of Ellaville, approximately 2 1⁄2 hours south of Atlanta.
-
WIFI & Cell phone serviceWe encourage our guests to unplug and enjoy the wild beauty and splendid seclusion of Strange Farms without distraction. However, we know that it is difficult for most people to disconnect completely because of emergencies, etc. We have found that most cell phone services provide service in the area and there is wifi available at the main dock house.
-
What is included at the retreat? All of your accommodations, activities, food, snacks and drinks are included during your stay. You will also receive fun welcome gifts as a thank you for attending!
-
What should I pack?Keep an eye on the weather in Ellaville, GA and pack accordingly (Don't worry, all of the wonderful, comfortable beds have electric blankets for chilly nights and each tent has heat and AC). Bring walking shoes, comfortable clothes, toiletries, something appropriate to sleep in (you will be sharing glamping tents with others - women with women and men with men). If you would like to fish, bring a pole! A blanket might be wanted during Worship under the stars. Bring anything for your down time that you feel brings you closer to the Lord, your Bible, Journal, Study, etc. Also, bring any special snacks or drinks you would like, there are mini fridges in each room and a full kitchen at the dock house. We will be providing breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, but if there is anything you can’t live without, you are welcome to bring it with you!
-
What are the sleeping arrangements?Because of the glamping tent arrangements, we have women's tents and men's tents. If you are signing up with a friend please let us know and we will do our best to put you in the same tent together. Typically there are 5 people per tent.
-
Why tell my story? We are all called to share the good news, to make disciples (Matthew 29 19-20). We believe the most effective ways to do this is by sharing the story of God in our lives. Many people have similar struggles and do not realize the hope that is found in Christ, unless we are bold enough to share how He has worked in our lives. Sharing your story on video gives you a timeless way to pass down your story for generations.
-
Can I participate in a Story Reveal Weekend without completing the program? Our Story Reveal Weekends are designed for those who have completed the program, as they provide an opportunity to share the insights and transformation experienced through the journey. We encourage completing the program to get the most out of this experience. Completing the program will make the experience more comfortable as the questions that are asked during the interview come from the course to help shape and share your story.
-
What if Im not sure how to tell my story? We want to help you tell your story in a powerful way. We do this by leading people through The StoryMission course. You can choose to complete the course online at your own pace or during one of our weekend retreats. Both experiences will lead you through a process of knowing and revealing the story of God in your life.
-
What if My Testimony feels insignificant or like I don’t have anything profound to say?EVERY story matters! The enemy would have you believe that your story doesn’t matter but your testimony is exactly what defeats him and gives others hope. This does not have to be your conversion story or how you came to know Jesus. It can be any story of how God has moved in your life. Revelation 12:11 says They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony!
-
I’m currently in a battle, should I wait until Im on the other side to tell my story?Your story is important at any stage, because God is present through all of it. What others need to know if that there is hope in the valley also. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
-
How much does it cost to capture and produce my video testimony? Thanks to our generous donors and partners, we do not charge a fee to capture your story on video. We would welcome you to join our donors and partners in making it possible for others to share their story.
-
I want to share my testimony; how do I participate? We encourage everyone to go through the program before participating in a Reveal Event. The online course or the in-person retreat are the two options available to complete the program and discover more of your story and how it fits into Gods grand story for your life. If you would like to share your story without going through the course, please reach out so we can have a conversation about the best way to capture your story. On our website look for the next Story Reveal Weekend under Their Stories page. Sign up to attend and you will receive an intake form to complete.
-
Will I get a copy of my video & where will my video be shared? We will send the video to you electronically after it is fully edited. Our prayer is that you will share it with friends, family & on social media. This is where the real power of sharing your story will be realized, as your video will reach people, times and places that you would otherwise not be able to. We will ask you to sign a media release so we can also share all or part of your story on our website and social media as well.
-
Who will be in the room when I tell my story? There will be a facilitator to guide you with questions and a camera operator in the room. You are also welcome to invite a friend or family member if you would like to have someone else go through the experience with you. We will always have a female volunteer in the room with female guests and male volunteer for male guests.
-
How long is a typical session? Most video sessions last approximately 45-60 minutes. You can plan on the entire experience lasting between 60-90 minutes.
